Goals and funnels

Count the actions that matter, and see where visits drop off on the way to paying.

Goals

Open Goals → New goal and choose what counts:

A page is viewedA path starting with /. Exact match, or end it with * to match a whole section: /blog/*.
An event firesAn event name sent with atrby.track() or atrby.goal(). Exact match.

Each goal shows conversions, unique visitors who converted, conversion rate against all visitors, the change from the previous period, and the revenue those visitors brought in.

Goals work on past data
A goal is a filter over what's already recorded, so a new goal fills in for earlier dates right away.

Funnels

A funnel is 2 to 8 steps that must happen in order within one visit. Each step is one of:

Visited any pageAny pageview. Usually the first step.
Viewed pageA path, exact or ending in *.
Fired eventAn event or goal name.
PaidA payment in the same visit, from any connected processor or the browser.

Until you save your own, the Funnels screen shows “Visit to paid”: any page, then /pricing, then paid. For each step you see the visits that reached it, the drop from the step before, the average time between steps, and the same funnel split by channel.

Because steps must happen in one visit, journeys that span several days show only up to where the first visit stopped.
